OUR POLITICAL POLICY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF LULEÅ
The Left Party (Vänsterpartiet) is currently part of the political majority in the municipality of Luleå.
We hope that we will remain in power following this year’s elections in September.
We strive to ensure that Luleå is a municipality built on the foundations of reliability,
sustainability, and equality.
We work to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy good housing, good health
and many possibilities to grow and develop.
Quite simply, we want to continue to develop a local community that is on your side.
Housing and municipal services
- An increase in the available housing from Lulebo and a moratorium on the sale of municipal housing
- Quality housing for everyone, support to co-construction and co-housing including other forms of co-op housing
- Rental apartments in every municipal district and in larger villages
- Municipal service offices in rural areas
- The implementation of the equivalent to collective bargaining agreements during the municipal acquisition proces
A green and sustainable Luleå
- Climate-smart strategy should be transformed into climate-smart practice
- An increase in the number of and an improvement in the maintenance of pedestrian and bicycle paths
- An increase in bus transit frequency and special lanes for bus traffic only
- Free public bus transportation for children and youths during school holidays, with the goal of expanding this service to encompass the entire year
- A demand for the increase in the amount of ecological and locally produced food as part of the municipal acquisition process
- A circular marketplace for the recycling of construction materials
Equality, diversity and democracy
- Citizens’ dialogues should be held and proposals from municipal residents should be taken into consideration
- Open and inclusive meeting places for asylum seekers and for those new to Sweden
- Support for minorities and minority languages should be strengthened
- Social sustainability and human rights should be promotoed
- The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child should always be observed, and child impact assessments should be made before major decisions are taken
An equitable preschool and school system
- More resources to municipal preschools
- More adults in the public schools
- The support to school health services should be increased so that pupils may receive the proper care at the right time
- Free breakfast for pupils
- Increased resources for schools in areas with lower socioeconomic status
Labor market and education
- An increase in the number of young people that receive the opportunity to complete upper secondary education through the municipal adult education system.
- An increase in the number of vocational education and training opportunities focusing on occupational fields with a workforce shortage
- An increase in opportunities for meaningful occupation for people with disabilities
- An increased capacity for Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) so that more adults will able to study Swedish and consequently will be eligible for employment or further studies
- Driving lessons for pupils studying health care professions
A reliable employer
- Shorter work hours for those employed in the healthcare and social welfare fields
- Time for recuperation during regular working hours för employees working in social services
- Language support for those employees who have a need for it
- Greater protection for employees who work in vulnerable positions
- Professional development opportunities to promote a more flexible working life
Reliable social services, health care and social welfare
- An increase in the number of health care and social welfare housing facilities to meet demand
- Measures to counteract evictions and to prevent that people lose their housing must be enhanced
- Improved home care services with a goal of achieving a top 50 placement in the home care index
- Support to women’s aid and to young women’s support centers
- An increase in the number of group homes in the municipality
- Outreach work and collaboration with schools to benefit children and youths
Culture and leisure time activities for everyone
- An increase in the amount of support to the non-profit sector and to adult educational associations
- A free and thriving cultural scene with room for various types of cultural expression
- Rehearsal studios and scenes in various areas in the municipality including rural areas
- The requests of children and youths should be taken into account
- The development of mobile youth centers in rural areas should be continued
